James : What's all that stuff in your bag, Tae-hyuk?

 (태혁아 가방 속에 그게 다 뭐야?)

Tae-hyuk : Hi James! This is for the big exam I'm taking today.

 (안녕, 제임스. 오늘 아주 중요한 시험이 있거든.)

James : Do they let you bring books to the exam?

 (시험장에 책을 가져가도 되는거야?)

Tae-hyuk : No, what I've got in here are good luck tokens, like this little fork and ax. Cutting down a tree, stabbing food with a fork and choosing an answer are all the same word, Jjik-da, in Korean.

 (아니, 가방에 있는 것은 행운의 상징들이야. 이런 작은 포크랑, 도끼 같은 것 말야. 나무를 찍는 거, 포크로 음식을 찍는 것과 답을 찍는 거는 모두 한국말로 '찍다'라고 하거든.)

James : I see. What's the cushion for?

 (알겠다. 근데 방석은 왜?)

Tae-hyuk : My brother used this same cushion when he passed the exam two years ago.

 (우리 형이 2년 전에 이 방석을 깔고 앉아서 시험에 합격했잖아.)

James : I get it. Say, you look like you didn't have time to take a shower this morning.

 (무슨 말인지 알겠어. 근데, 오늘 아침 샤워할 시간이 없었던 것 같네.)

Tae-hyuk : Oh, that's another tradition. We don't wash our hair and cut our fingernails for a few days before a big test.

 (아, 그것도 우리 전통이야. 큰 시험을 앞 두고는 며칠동안 머리도 안 감고 손톱도 안 깎아.)

James : Wow, have you ever tried studying?

 (와, 근데 너 공부는 좀 한거야?)

Tae-hyuk : Hey, I study too, man!

 (이봐, 공부도 한다고! 이거 왜 이래!)
